The XV National Congress of Oenological Research (GIENOL) took place from 23 to 26 May in Murcia, where Bodegas Barahonda was present as a collaborator.
The aim of this conference is to show and share the advances and scientific innovation in the oenological sector with researchers from all over Spain, as well as to highlight the interest of new and young researchers in the world of wine.
During this congress, different activities were carried out to promote the importance of research in this sector. Among these were the conferences held in the Víctor Villegas auditorium by prestigious speakers from the world of wine, as well as visits to different wineries in the designations of origin of Murcia – Yecla, Jumilla and Bullas – to showcase our native variety of Monastrell and its wines, characteristic of our region.
Within the DO Yecla, Bodegas Barahonda, as a collaborator of GIENOL, offered a visit and wine tasting on Wednesday 25th May. During the visit, the attendees were guided by Araceli González -enologist-, Ana Melero and Arancha Soriano, Laboratory, Quality and R+D+i Department, and they were able to learn about all the winemaking and ageing processes in our winery, as well as the technological advances used to create our wines. To end the enriching visit they were able to taste two of our wines: Barahonda Organic Barrica 2019 and Barahonda Summum 2019.
At Barahonda we support research in all areas and we trust in development and progress in order to continue improving quality in the wine sector.
